Barney is the reason that Bald Eagle Beagles exists.  He was our first dog and is now the grand old man of the kennel, just past his 10th birthday.  John bought him as a puppy to give to his dad for a birthday gift, when our friend Darrell Shildt's dog Gypsy had a litter to Gunsmoke.  Turns out that John got bitten by the beagle bug even more than his dad did, so Barney soon had company and we had ourselves the start of a kennel.  Barney is the male foundation of BEB's bloodline, and he's sired numerous litters for other breeders too.

John's comments:

  • Most intelligent, hard-driving male I've ever hunted over.
  • He has a very loud chop bark.
  • The last dog you can still hear as the chase heads out, and the first one you hear on the return.

Barney has sired these dogs (among many others):

Feel free to e-mail if you have a dog sired by Barney that you'd like to see listed here, especially if it has trialed well or championed out.  As space permits we'll list the dog's name along with your name and location, and we'll include a hyperlink if you have one.
