sire: Lehner's Barney Patch
dam: Shildt's Lacey Patch, #HD691873 (pedigree, 10KB PDF)
breeder: John Lehner Jr. (BEB)
4-generation pedigree (11KB PDF)
Sluggo was part of BEB's very first litter of pups, out of which we kept him and his brother Charlie. (A slideshow of photos of the litter's first week can be found here.) Sluggo had an honest mouth, and was an aggressive tracker. In June 1999, Jim Rittler and Jeff Reynolds came to BEB from Ohio to see these two hounds run and choose between them, and they went home with both. Jim then sold Sluggo in Spring 2001 to Larry Parrott of Georgetown SC, and Sluggo's been there ever since.
Larry had this to say about Sluggo on July 26, 2004:
I bought Sluggo because I was looking for a good Patch male who was well bred. I knew Sluggo had medium-fast speed with good line control, and that's what I was looking for, living in the south. He has sired four litters with the oldest being almost two years old. [BEB note: Sluggo also sired at least one litter in Ohio before Larry bought him.] I've been well pleased with the pups off of Sluggo. I also have many requests for pups with him as sire. All his female pups for the next year have been spoken for, so that tells me that others like what he is producing.
